All the bags were packed and I found myself at a land faraway from my hometown. When I looked at a map, it was definitely at the other side of the world I used to know. After the hassle of document preparations and a long flight, my first contract as a cruise ship photographer began.
Karangasem, a region in the eastern Bali, has a lot to offer for the tourists. Quiet and peaceful with many historical places to discover. One of them is Tirta Gangga water palace. Tirta Gangga is a heritage of Karangasem kingdom. It is located in Amlapura village. It was used by royals of Karangasem for bathing.
The birds are chirping and the trees are waving. A slow breeze blows into my face as I step on the the ground of Tenganan Pegringsingan village. A pleasant welcome from the nature makes me feel that this trip is going to be great. Tenganan village is inhabited by Bali Aga tribe, which is claimed as the original tribe in Bali. In the middle of modernization that affects Bali tourism, Tenganan village stays true to its tradition.
My hands are full of tourism brochures when I arrive at the tourist information center in La Romana. La Romana is a popular destination in the south of Dominican Republic. I am looking for an alternative option outside the beaches and I spot Altos de Chavon. Visiting Altos de Chavon is like going back to the past. It is a 16th century replica of Mediterranean village and designed by the local architect Jose Antonio Caro and Italian designer Roberto Copa.
