Crew Life

Love at Sea

17 September 2019 | Bahamas Princess Cays

Little did I expect that I would find my other half at sea. More specifically on the cruise ship! My main reason to join the cruise ship was for working and traveling, but God had a better plan. He let me meet my husband here. I am sure there are a lot of crew that meet their life partners while working as well. On the cruise ship,  the love relationship between the crew is tricky. I see so many heartbreaks, cheating, and casual relationship. I was once heart-broken too but I am so grateful to meet Silviu at the right moment.

I met Silviu in October 2016. We worked together in Carnival Splendor as the photographers. We started as a colleague. We found out that both of us love to explore the ports in the break time. We did excursions together with other teammate as well. We also shared the same big appetite for food. I was so happy that he liked asian food so we could eat any Chinese or Japanese food in the ports.

We created many beautiful memories on the ship. We really spent A LOT of time with each other: working, eating, and going for excursions. Ship life was hard, but it was fun to go through it together. We did a nice dinner by the sea in Curacao, anniversary lunch in Ensenada, Mexico. We did kayaking and zip-lining in Isla Roatan, Honduras. We did city tour in Montego Bay, Jamaica and many more places.

Until one day in our vacation in Indonesia, he finally popped the question! From that moment, we knew that settling on the land and starting the family will be the next big step. We didn’t plan the professional pre-wedding photoshoot, but luckily one of our colleague, Wilma, offered us one. Her works are beautiful and we love it so much. Thank you, Wilma!

The pictures were taken in Princess Cays, Bahamas, which looked like the beach from my hometown. I didn’t get a professional make-up but it didn’t bother me a lot. We were just happy that our manager arranged the working schedule to allow us some spare time for the shooting. We were also grateful that Wilma was willing to spend her time with us. It was simple, without the fancy dress, place or make-up. I guess it matched our personality who liked to keep it natural and simple. But the pictures are so beautiful. We will always cherish these wonderful love moments at sea.
